WHAT IS OSTEOPATHY AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

Osteopathy is a gentle hands-on approach to therapy.  The goal is to find areas in the body - tissues, muscles, bones, joints and various systems including the lymphatic and nervous systems etc - that may not operating optimally.  Osteopaths seek out the relationships between those issues and put them into balance. Osteopaths do this through palpation - feeling the state of the tissues and joints with their hands.  The patient often will feel little to no pressure in an osteopathic treatment.

WHAT IS STRUCTURAL INTEGRATION AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

 Developed by Ida Rolf,  Structural Integration, is typically delivered as a series of ten hands-on physical manipulation sessions sometimes called "the recipe".  The recipe is focused on postural integrity and body movement reintegration. 

WHAT IS MASSAGE THERAPY AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

Massage therapy is the manipulation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints. Massage therapy is a clinically-oriented healthcare option that helps alleviate the discomfort associated with everyday occupational stresses, muscular over-use and many chronic pain conditions.
Massage therapy should only be provided by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). An RMT is a primary healthcare provider in Ontario and anyone may visit an RMT of their choice.

WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?

In acupuncture, small needles are placed in specific points in the body to balance meridians or channels and allow better flow of qi or energy. Here at BodyVive, acupuncture will be practiced by our massage therapists and the focus will be on muscle and joint tension.

WHAT IS ADVANCED FOOTCARE NURSING?

Advanced foot care nurses provide toenail care, corn/callus/wart removal, fungal toenail thickness reduction, preventative footcare for people with diabetes and preventative maintenance for healthy individuals.

WHAT IS PILATES AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

Pilates is a method of exercise which focuses on precision, control, technique and flow.  It aims to have you focus on certain muscles engaging and firing in the order they should for best biomechanics.  Pilates is a low-impact non-aerobic type of exercise designed to increase flexibility, strength and endurance, as well as, balance.  Though core strength is central to pilates, all parts of the body are involved in the practice.

WHAT IS TRIGENICS AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

Trigenics treatment helps to get your muscles firing optimally.  This is done by lengthening and/or strengthening your muscles to create balance in the body and ensure optimal neurological function.  This can help reset the nervous system and stabilize how the brain interprets pain.  Trigenics treatment can be done manually or the practitioner can use a percussor or other equipment.  After a treatment, exercises are often prescribed 
by Trigenics® practitioners according to the patient's needs.  This therapy can lead to increased flexibility, performance and strength.  

WHAT CAN I EXPECT WHEN I VISIT?

For your first appointment, please arrive five minutes early having filled out your intake form, which our staff will have sent to you via email.

Please put your cell phone on silent and remove your shoes. You may wait in the entry area until your practitioner comes to greet you. You will then be taken to your treatment room.

Your practitioner will take a detailed history of your concerns and make a full assessment, including reviewing your posture.  If you have had diagnostic tests in the past, including bone scans, MRI’s, x-rays, ultrasounds etc., please bring these test results with you.  A treatment will also be performed.

For follow up visits, please fill out the pre-assessment form which will have been emailed to you 24 hours before your appointment. These three simple questions allow us to best prepare for your individualized treatment.

HOW DO I PAY MY BILL?

You may pay your bill via cash, cheque or e-transfer as well as Interac or credit card. We accept all major credit cards except Amex.

PARKING AND ENTRANCE

Please enter via Melrose Street and use the Melrose Street Parking area on the west side of the building.  The door to the clinic is the only door on that side of the building.
